Research

We will keep our members up to date with the latest authoritative research from around the world, supported by research commissioned by AFI and its members targeted at four main areas.

AFI as a research catalyst: AFI’s research philosophy is to complement and catalyze research in financial inclusion, rather than taking a lead role in conducting it. We do not have an in-house research facility but instead commission external research partners to investigate issues in four broad areas that are relevant to our members and under-researched. We also support the creation of research capacity in geographic areas and provide our members with updates of new studies and thinking from leading institutions.

Four focus areas: Research commissioned by AFI covers four main areas:

  • Impact measurements and metrics
  • Customized policy research for AFI’s members and projects
  • Global trends and developments in financial inclusion
  • New tools and methodologies for policymakers to share their knowledge and learn from their collective insights and experience
