Goal

Our goal is to enable an extra 50 million people living on less than $2 a day to have access to savings accounts, insurance and other formal financial services by 2012.

• Research has shown that greater financial access leads to higher national income, greater employment and increased personal investments in health and education, among other advantages that benefit everyone.
• About 2.5 billion people, more than half the world’s adult population, do not have access to financial services – a massive, untapped reservoir of economic and social potential.
